Breaking News - Solar Incentive (Rebate) Scheme Saved!
Yes, let's cheer!!! Why?
Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) was under threat as there was a push towards the government in Q3 of 2018 to scrap this scheme much earlier than initially planned. This scheme has been benefiting our residential clients all the way to large business clients by allowing the creation of Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) with a value that can be redeemed by selling or assigning them.
In other words, this scheme has been greatly helping people to reduce the purchase cost of the equipment significantly and in turn reduce the recent jump in energy costs.
An excerpt from a communication we received from The Chief Executive of Smart Energy Council below:
Morrison Government commits to SRES to 2030 Federal Energy Minister, Angus Taylor, has today ruled out changing the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).
Angus Taylor has told The Guardian:
“There’s no plan to change the SRES. The SRES and the large-scale renewable energy target are around until 2030. They fade between now and 2030, there’s decline as technology continues to improve. That’s our position."
Question: "You are not going to scale SRES back, you are not going to change it?"
Angus: "The deeming rates fall every year between now and 2030. We are not proposing to change that. That’s designed to ensure the subsidy comes off as technology continues to improve."
The Morrison Government should be congratulated for their strong support for families and businesses looking to slash their power bills with solar.
This is a huge win for the solar industry.
The Smart Energy Council and Solar Citizens have campaigned hard to maintain the SRES.
